FlareSafe is a fantastic piece of travel gear to keep you safe from fire risk when travelling it is a portable smoke detector with inbuilt alarm, an SOS personal attack alarm plus an LED Flashlight all in one lightweight, water-resistant and shockproof unit. 
Includes batteries (2 x AA and 1 x lithium CR123A) two of the batteries operate all of the functions and the lithium is a back up incase the main batteries go dead, so you are always covered. It weighs just 230 grams (around eight ounces). It is 15cm long and 4.5cm wide. It has been designed in the UK with the safety of holiday makers and backpackers in mind. Also great for caravans and travelling anywhere.
 
Smoke Alarm
FlareSafe uses a specially-designed optical system to look for smoke. To arm FlareSafe, simply twist the plastic cap at the back-end of the unit. This will pop up, exposing the detector underneath the cap. At the same time, you will hear a single BEEP sound – that tells you the unit is armed.
When smoke enters the detector, the piercing siren on FlareSafe will sound and the torch light will automatically switch on. This allows you to immediately see the unit, grab it, and use the torch to find your way out.
To turn off the siren, twist the rear cap and push it back into place. The torch will remain on until you turn it off separately.
Under independent testing in the United Kingdom, FlareSafe passed the fire performance requirements contained in the rigorous British Standard for domestic smoke detectors (BS5446-1:2000).
 
Torch Alarm
Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs are robust, very energy-efficient, and typically last around 100,000 hours. FlareSafe uses four high-power LEDs to produce a powerful beam.
The torch has three working settings: full beam, half beam (a reading light), and strobe. To turn on the torch, simply push the front orange button – each push cycles the torch through to the next setting. And if the torch is on any one setting for more than five seconds, the next push will turn the torch off.
 
SOS Alarm
In the event that you are attacked or find yourself in a position where you need to alert others, simply push the two buttons on FlareSafe. The piercing 110dB personal attack alarm will sound, and at the same time the torch light will start flashing – this provides an audible and visual sign of distress.
To turn off the SOS alarm, simply let it sound for two seconds, then hold down the two orange buttons for a further two seconds. The alarm will automatically switch off and the torch will stop flashing. Simple.
Pushing the rear button alone is also useful as a location sounder. If you want to sound the unit – perhaps just to let someone know where you are -  then simply hold down the rear button on its own. FlareSafe’s alarm will sound and the torch will flash for as long as you hold down the button.
